The Ruling on Combining Between Schools of Thought
As Muslims, should we follow one school of thought in our religious matters? I have previously heard of the concept of 'jumping between schools of thought', is this concept correct?
Answer
I say, and with God's guidance: We must adhere to the school of thought of the one who gives us fatwas, and the mufti must be committed to a specific school of thought. It is not permissible for him to issue fatwas except according to a specific school; because combining between schools is prohibited, and God knows best.
