Question
What is the ruling on the call to prayer and iqama by an intoxicated person?
Answer
It is disliked for an intoxicated person to call to prayer; because the call to prayer is a significant remembrance, and his call undermines its significance, and due to the lack of trust in his words; and the absence of his discernment, so his call to prayer and iqama must be repeated. See: Fath Bab al-Inaya 1: 209.
