I say, and with Allah's success: If one advances the charity on the day of Eid, it is permissible in all cases according to the correct opinion; for Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) commanded us that the Zakat al-Fitr should be paid before the people go out to prayer. Ibn Umar used to pay it before that, one or two days in advance.
It is reported in Sunan Abu Dawood 2: 111, and he did not comment on it. See: Al-Tamheed 14: 326. And because the obligation, if not established, has found the cause of obligation, which is the head of the household who is responsible for it, and advancing it after the cause has been established is permissible just like advancing the Zakat. See: Bada'i al-Sanai' 2: 74, Al-Taqreer 1: 311, and Al-Durr al-Mukhtar 1: 78, and Allah knows best.
