What is the ruling for someone who was unaware of the direction of the Qibla and then began to pray without seeking it, and it turned out that he faced the Qibla?
Answer
His prayer is not valid even if he faces the Qibla; because his facing it is a direction of his seeking, and he did not show any effort in seeking it. It was narrated from Abu Hanifa, may Allah have mercy on him, that he becomes a disbeliever due to his disregard for the religion. See: Sharh al-Waqaya, p. 143.
