What is the ruling for someone who enters the obligatory prayer facing a direction other than the Qibla?
Answer
It is not valid to begin the prayer at all; because facing the Qibla is a condition for the validity of the prayer, and if it is missed, it is not valid to start it. See Al-Kifayah 1: 237, and Nafa' Al-Mufti 241.
