Question
What is the ruling on the ablution and washing of a painter if traces of paint remain on him?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: If a painter or similar worker has traces of paint or the like on him, and if he cannot easily or continuously remove it, it does not prevent his purity for ablution or washing; because the requirement in washing is to wash the entire body, except for what is impossible to reach with water or difficult to do so. Here, it is difficult for him to wash it, and he cannot avoid it, so his ablution and washing are valid, but he should be reminded to avoid it as much as possible. However, if he can easily remove it, he must do so, and this is the opinion of Sheikh Abdul Fattah Abu Ghuddah, may God have mercy on him. Refer to: Margin of Fath Bab Al-Ianayah 1: 84, and God knows best.
