The Violation of the Cast in Some Rulings

Question
What are the rulings in which wiping over the cast differs from wiping over the socks?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: 1. It is not required to tighten the splint while in a state of purity; to avoid hardship. Unlike wiping over the socks, which is only permissible if they were worn in a state of purity. 2. Wiping over the splint is permissible for both the one who is in a state of minor or major impurity, unlike wiping over the socks, which is only permissible for the one in a state of minor impurity. 3. Wiping over the splint does not have a specified duration, unlike wiping over the socks which is limited by a duration. 4. Wiping over the splint is not invalidated by the falling off of the splint or cloth before healing; due to the excuse of a fracture or wound. However, if it falls off after healing, it is necessary to wash that specific area, especially if one is in a state of ablution, unlike if one removes one of the socks, where he is required to wash both feet, and there is no difference in this between minor impurity and major impurity. 5. It is permissible to wipe over the splint of one foot while washing the other; because wiping over the splint is original and not a substitute, unlike wiping over the socks where it is not permissible to combine washing and wiping. 6. Wiping over the splint is not invalidated by wetting what is beneath it, as is the case with the sock; due to the non-requirement of preventing water from reaching it. 7. It is permissible to replace the splint with another after wiping over it, and it is not required to re-wipe the area covered by the new one; because it is like washing what is beneath it, and this has been fulfilled by the first wipe, just as if one wiped his head and then shaved it. It is preferable to re-wipe over the splint due to the ambiguity of substitution, unlike wiping over the socks which is invalidated by removal. 8. If one wipes over the splint and then tightens another over it, it is permissible to wipe over the upper one, and one does not wipe over the lower one after removing the upper one, unlike wiping over the socks where one wipes over the lower one after removing the upper one. 9. It is not required to cover the splint for the area as in the sock. 10. It is not required for the splint to remain on the limb by itself as in the sock. 11. Wiping over the splint is not invalidated by the presence of a large tear in it as in the sock. 12. The splint is valid on any limb. 13. It is permissible to wipe over the splint even if the remaining part of the bandaged limb is less than three fingers: such as a severed hand or foot, it is permissible to wipe over it.
