Nullifiers of Wiping

Question
What are the nullifiers of wiping over the socks?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: The wiping over the socks is invalidated by five matters, which are as follows: First: Nullifiers of ablution: Any nullifier of ablution is considered a nullifier of wiping over the socks; because wiping is a substitute for ablution, and it is invalidated by the nullifiers of ablution. Second: The presence of a reason for washing: Such as major ritual impurity (janabah), menstruation, and postpartum bleeding (nifas). If any of these reasons occur, the wiping over the socks is invalidated, and it is necessary to remove them and wash the entire body, and the wiping over the socks can be renewed after putting them on again after completing the purification if one wishes to do so. Third: The removal or taking off of the socks or one of them: The wiping over the socks is invalidated by removing one or both of them; because removal causes the impurity to reach the foot, and the sock is what prevented its transmission. If one removes it, it is invalidated, even if only one sock is removed; because if one removes one of the socks, it becomes obligatory to wash one of the feet, and thus the other must be washed, as there is no combining between washing and wiping. The significant measure for the foot to exit the sock is the exit of most of the foot to the leg of the sock, and for the majority, the ruling applies to the whole. Fourth: The exposure of most of one foot or both to water in the middle of the sock: If one of the feet or both become wet with water after wiping over them, the wiping is invalidated; because it is not permissible to combine washing and wiping, and for the majority, the ruling applies to the whole. Fifth: The expiration of the duration of wiping for the resident or traveler: It is a day and a night for the resident, and three days and nights for the traveler, starting from the time of the event. Refer to: Al-Maraqi, p. 134, and Sharh Al-Wiqayah, p. 117, and God knows best.
