The Mentioning of Allah in Ablution

Question
What is the ruling on mentioning Allah at the beginning of ablution?
Answer
I say, and with Allah's success: It is recommended to mention the name of Allah, the Exalted, at the beginning of ablution; for Abu Huraira  said that the Prophet  said: "There is no prayer for the one who does not have ablution, and there is no ablution for the one who does not mention the name of Allah upon it," in Al-Mustadrak 1: 246, and it was authenticated, and in the selected hadiths 1: 303, and in Al-Jami' Al-Tirmidhi 1: 38, and in the minor Sunnah 1: 82. And from Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri , the Prophet  said: "There is no ablution for the one who does not mention the name of Allah upon it," in Sunan Al-Darimi 1: 187, and in Musnad Abd Ibn Hamid 1: 285. The intended meaning is the negation of virtue and perfection: as in the saying of the Prophet : "The believer is not the one who goes to bed full while his neighbor is hungry," narrated by Al-Hakim in "Al-Mustadrak" 4/184. This does not mean that he has exited to disbelief, but rather that he is not in the highest ranks of faith. Similarly here, it does not mean that he is not in a state of ablution that removes the minor impurity, but rather that he is not in a state of complete ablution, which is the ablution that is rewarded. This is supported by what Al-Daraqutni narrated from Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them, as a raised narration: "Whoever performs ablution and mentions the name of Allah upon his ablution, it is purification for his body, and whoever performs ablution and does not mention the name of Allah upon his ablution, it is purification for his limbs." We have interpreted it this way to avoid abrogating the text of the Qur'an with a single report, as the generality in the verse about ablution implies that purification is achieved without mentioning the name, due to the realization of washing and wiping. See: Al-Binayah 1: 133, Al-Durr Al-Mukhtar 1: 74, Maraki Al-Falah p. 104, Durar Al-Hukam 1: 10, Al-Wiqayah p. 80, and Allah knows best.
