Tayammum for Continuing the Eid or Funeral Prayer

Question
If someone begins the funeral or Eid prayer with tayammum out of fear of missing the prayer due to being occupied with ablution, and then they break their wudu, can they perform tayammum to continue the prayer?
Answer
I say, and with Allah's success: If someone begins the funeral prayer or the Eid prayer with tayammum out of fear of missing the prayer due to being occupied with ablution, and then they break their wudu, they are allowed to perform tayammum to continue with the prayer. Similarly, if they fear missing the funeral prayer or the Eid prayer from the start, it is permissible for them to perform tayammum and begin the prayer; because it is missed without a substitute, as it cannot be performed individually. Even if they started the prayer while in a state of wudu and then were interrupted by an event, and they feared that if they went to perform wudu they would miss the prayer, it is permissible for them to perform tayammum; because the fear of missing it remains, especially on a busy day when something might occur that invalidates their prayer. Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "If you fear that the funeral prayer will be missed while you are not in a state of wudu, then perform tayammum and pray," as reported in the Musannaf of Ibn Abi Shaybah 2: 497, and its narrators are the narrators of Muslim except for Al-Mughirah, who is accepted as a witness, as mentioned in I'laa as-Sunan 1: 300, and Nasb ar-Rayah 1: 157. And from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him): "A funeral was brought to him while he was not in a state of wudu, so he performed tayammum and then prayed for it," as narrated by Al-Bayhaqi in Al-Ma'rifah. See: I'laa as-Sunan 1: 301, and Al-Hadiyyah Al-'Alaiyyah p. 34, and Allah knows best.
