I'tikaf in the Last Ten Days and Its Duration

Question
Is it permissible to perform voluntary i'tikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan for someone who did not intend to perform the Sunnah i'tikaf? And for someone who intended to perform the Sunnah i'tikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan, is it permissible for them to i'tikaf for less than ten days?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: I'tikaf (spiritual retreat) in the last ten days of Ramadan is a confirmed Sunnah. It is permissible for one to perform I'tikaf for one day, two days, or three days along with their nights, or any time they are able to. And God knows best.
