Yes; to receive the reward promised to the muezzins. Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them, said that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Let the best among you call to prayer, and let your reciters lead you in prayer.' This is found in Sunan Abu Dawood 1:161, and he remained silent about it, and in Sunan Ibn Majah 1:240, Musannaf Abdul Razzaq 1:487, Al-Mu'jam Al-Kabir 11:237, and Sunan Al-Bayhaqi Al-Kabir 1:426. The best of people are the scholars; and because the Sunnahs of the adhan can only be performed by someone knowledgeable about them. See: Sharh Al-Wiqayah p.140.
