I say, and with God's help: It is recommended to perform a ritual wash before entering Mecca or Medina; as reported by Muslim in his Sahih from Ibn Umar, who said: "He would not enter Mecca except after spending the night at Dhul-Tuwa until morning, then he would perform a ritual wash and enter Mecca during the day, and it is mentioned that the Prophet (peace be upon him) did this."
