Zakat on Uninvested Property
Is there Zakat on the ownership of an apartment or a piece of land if it has not been invested in any way, neither inhabited nor utilized?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: Zakat is not obligatory on real estate unless it is purchased for the purpose of resale, that is, for trade in it. It appears that what you are asking about is not the case, and God knows best.
