Zakat on the Bonus and Paying It to Branches and Brothers
An employee received a financial bonus saved from the savings fund of his institution: A - Does he have to pay Zakat on the amount, or should he wait for a period after receiving it? B - Can he pay Zakat to his married daughter, whose husband has a low income, and can she be counted among the poor? How can he help her husband? C - Can he give part of the Zakat to his married brother whose income is low, and can he be counted among the poor? How can he assist him with Zakat?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: The funds of savings boxes are to be purified after receipt, and it is not permissible to give to sons and daughters, but it is permissible to give to their poor spouses, and it is permissible to give to sisters and brothers if they are poor, and God knows best.
