Question
My husband pays zakat on the goods in the store and the money he has available, but there is money saved to buy another store. He does not believe that zakat is due on this money, thinking that it is the price for a store that is necessary for him. I have asked him several times to pay his zakat, but he gets annoyed with me. Am I sinful for not pressing him, even though he does not care about my opinion?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: You should inform him of the obligation of zakat and encourage him to do so, and the sin of not paying it is on him, not on you. And God knows best.
