Zakat on Saved Money
A mother of orphans has saved an amount of 2000 for two years, and an amount of 2000 that she received in December. Is there Zakat due on this amount, and what is the amount?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: Zakat is not obligatory on her; due to the lack of a full year passing on the zakat threshold, and the zakat threshold is the value of 100 grams of gold, and God knows best.
