Zakat on Money Received from Joining Associations
A lady joined a monthly association for five years with a value of six thousand dinars, and after two years it was her turn to receive the association. She kept the money for a whole year with the intention of building a house for herself. Does she have to pay Zakat on this money?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: It is obligatory for her to pay zakat on it, some of it but not all, because part of it is still a debt on her, demanding repayment in the following years, and God knows best.
