Zakat of Camels

Question
How is zakat paid on camels?
Answer
I say, and with Allah's success: The minimum for camels is five, and for them, one sheep is due if they are between five and nine. From ten to fourteen, two sheep are due; from fifteen to nineteen, three sheep are due; from twenty to twenty-four, four sheep are due. For twenty-five to thirty-five, a female camel that has reached one year is due - this is known as a "bint makhāḍ". From thirty-six to forty-five, a female camel that has reached two years is due - this is known as a "bint labūn". From forty-six to sixty, a three-year-old female camel is due - this is known as a "ḥaqa". From sixty-one to ninety, a four-year-old female camel is due - this is known as a "jadh‘a". From ninety-one to one hundred and twenty, two three-year-old female camels are due. Here we start counting anew: from one hundred and twenty-five to one hundred and twenty-nine, two three-year-old female camels and one sheep are due. From one hundred and thirty to one hundred and thirty-four, two three-year-old female camels and two sheep are due. From one hundred and thirty-six to one hundred and thirty-nine, two three-year-old female camels and three sheep are due. From one hundred and forty to one hundred and forty-four, two three-year-old female camels and four sheep are due. From one hundred and forty-five to one hundred and forty-nine, two three-year-old female camels and one female camel that has reached one year are due. At one hundred and fifty, three three-year-old female camels are due. Here we also start counting anew: from one hundred and fifty-five to one hundred and fifty-nine, three three-year-old female camels and one sheep are due. From one hundred and sixty to one hundred and sixty-four, two three-year-old female camels and two sheep are due. From one hundred and sixty-five to one hundred and sixty-nine, three three-year-old female camels and three sheep are due. From one hundred and seventy to one hundred and seventy-four, three three-year-old female camels and four sheep are due. From one hundred and seventy-five to one hundred and eighty-five, three three-year-old female camels and one female camel that has reached one year are due. From one hundred and eighty-six to one hundred and ninety-five, three three-year-old female camels and one female camel that has reached two years are due. From one hundred and ninety-six to two hundred, four three-year-old female camels are due. Thus, we always start anew every fifty as we did after one hundred and fifty; for Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "When the camels exceed one hundred and twenty, the obligation is resumed" in Sunan al-Bayhaqi al-Kabir 4: 93. And from Ibrahim al-Nakha'i (may Allah have mercy on him): "Then the obligation is resumed; if the camels increase, for every fifty, a three-year-old female camel is due" in Al-Athar by Abu Yusuf 1: 84, and Allah knows best.
