Zakat of Bees is Always Ten Percent

Question
Do beekeepers have to pay Zakat?
Answer

I say, and with Allah's success: Beekeepers must pay Zakat, and it is always (10)%; due to the absence of expenses for irrigation as in crops and fruits. Even if the honey bees live in the mountains, beekeepers must give (10)% of what their bees produce, whether they live in their homes, farms, or mountains. There is no difference between one land and another; as narrated by Abu Sayyar Al-Mutqi, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I have bees.' He said: 'Pay the tenth.' I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, protect them for me.' So he protected them for me.' This is found in Sunan Ibn Majah 1: 584, Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 2: 373, and Musnad Ahmad 4: 263, and Allah knows best.
