I say, and with God's success: Writing the Quran if it is placed on a board such that it does not touch what is written, according to Abu Yusuf: it is permissible; because it is not a carrier, and the writing is found letter by letter, and it is not the Quran. Muhammad said: I prefer that it not be written; because writing is akin to letters. See: Durar al-Hukam 1: 20, and Sharh al-Waqaya p126, and God knows best.
