I say, and with God's help: If poetry does not include prohibitions such as describing specific women or calling for alcohol and debauchery, then it is permissible. It is preferable for the poet to train himself to write what benefits Muslims, such as what is mentioned about God Almighty and His Messenger, peace be upon him, or what raises spirits and calls for the spread of goodness and virtue.
