Wiping for a Woman Required to Perform Ghusl after Menstruation

Question
Is it permissible to wipe over the socks for a woman who is required to perform ghusl after menstruation or postpartum bleeding?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: It is not permissible to wipe over the socks for someone who is required to perform a full ablution due to menstruation; because it is a condition for the permissibility of wiping over them that the event is minor. If the event is major, such as menstruation or sexual impurity, then it is not permissible; because the permissibility of wiping in minor events is to alleviate hardship, as it occurs frequently and its presence is overwhelming, leading to hardship and difficulty in removing the socks. Sexual impurity does not occur frequently, so there is no hardship in removing them. Therefore, if there is a cause for full ablution, such as sexual impurity, menstruation, or postpartum bleeding, the wiping over the socks is invalidated, and they must be removed, and the entire body must be washed. The wiping over the socks can be renewed after putting them on following the completion of purification if one wishes to do so. It was narrated by Safwan ibn 'Assal that he said: "The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to command us when we were traveling not to remove our socks for three days and nights, except in the case of sexual impurity, but not for excrement, urine, or sleep," in Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 1: 13, and Sunan al-Nasa'i al-Kubra 1: 92, and Sunan al-Tirmidhi 1: 159. And from Anas, he said: "When one of you performs ablution and puts on his socks, he should pray in them and wipe over them, and then he should not remove them unless for sexual impurity," in Al-Mustadrak 1: 290, and it was authenticated. Menstruation is a major event like sexual impurity, so it takes its ruling. Refer to: Al-Maraqi p. 131, Radd al-Muhtar 1: 174, Al-Hadiyyah al-'Alaiyyah p. 39-40, and Bada'i' al-Sana'i' 1: 10, and God knows best.
