Widow's Waiting Period
A friend of mine's husband passed away and she has a sick daughter. She has to stay overnight at her brother's house to take her daughter to the doctor while she is in her waiting period. Is there any sin on her? Some days she sleeps at her mother-in-law's house because her mother-in-law is attached to the children and keeps crying until they stay with her?
Answer
I say, and with God's guidance: It is not permissible for a woman in her waiting period to go out except for necessity, including illness. Therefore, what I mentioned regarding staying overnight at her brother's house is considered a necessity, unlike going to her mother-in-law's house, which is not considered a valid excuse and is therefore not permissible. And God knows best.
