Question
Why is suicide considered forbidden knowing that a mentally ill person may commit suicide while not in full possession of their mental faculties?
Answer
I say, and with God's guidance: Suicide is forbidden because it involves objection to God's decree, a lack of patience in facing His trials, and a failure to fulfill the divine purpose in this worldly life. This applies to the rational person; however, the irrational person is not held accountable for their actions due to the lifting of obligation from them. And God knows best.
