I say, and with God's help: Intention is not a requirement for adornment, but rather its realization. Gold is not for anything other than adornment, so it is not permissible to wear it in front of non-mahram men. It is permissible in front of the husband, mahrams, and women. If adornment is realized with it in front of non-mahrams, one would be sinful. And God knows best.
