Question
What is the ruling on using water that has been mixed with vinegar?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: Vinegar has color, taste, and smell. If one characteristic appears in water, it does not harm. However, if two characteristics appear, it becomes pure but not purifying for ritual impurity. It is permissible to remove actual impurity with it, but it is not permissible to perform ablution or bathing with it. Refer to: Bada'i' al-Sanai' 1: 16, Al-Ikhtiyar 1: 20, Al-Lubab 1: 18-19, Al-Hadiyyah Al-'Alaiyyah p. 39-40, and God knows best.
