Question
Is it permissible to translate similar verses into other languages according to their literal meaning? If it is not permissible, what is the degree of the ruling on this?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: There are two ways to deal with similar verses among the people of the Sunnah, which are delegation (tafweez) and interpretation (ta'wil). Therefore, it is not permissible to translate the similar verses according to their literal meaning directly into other languages; because this does not constitute delegation or interpretation, but rather it establishes a suspicion that leads to anthropomorphism and likening the divine essence. Therefore, it is prohibited. You should translate them in a way that aligns with their correct interpretation, and God knows best.
