Question
Is it permissible to give zakat to the poor of another country other than the country where the zakat money is located?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: It is permissible without dislike if the zakat is transferred to those who are more in need from their own country; for it increases the alleviation of need, so it is not disliked; as reported by Tawus, who said: Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) in Yemen said: 'Bring me the value of clothes I take from you instead of the barley and wheat, for it is easier for you and better for the immigrants in Medina' as mentioned in Sunan al-Daraqutni 2: 100, as in Al-Wiqayah p. 228, and Fath Bab al-'Inayah p. 543, and Allah knows best.
