Touching the Quran and Reading It Without Wudu

Question
I am a Tajweed teacher; I read, memorize, and review, and it is difficult for me to always be in a state of wudu. What is the ruling on touching the Quran and reading it without wudu? And what about the Quran that has interpretations of the verses on the edges of the pages?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: It is permissible to read without ablution, but it is not permissible to touch without ablution. You can read from a book of interpretation that mostly contains text, or if the Quran has a cover that is separate from it. If there are interpretations next to the margins of the Quran, they are treated like the Quran unless the interpretation is more than the Quran; in that case, it is permissible to touch it without purification. And God knows best.
