What is the ruling on selling tobacco and cigarettes, and similar items? What is the ruling on the profit from selling them along with other goods? And if one sells them, what should be done with the profit?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: Selling these disliked things is forbidden and using them is also disliked in a forbidden manner, and the profit gained from them is impure and not permissible according to Islamic law; due to the great harm it causes to Muslims. Therefore, one must give in charity the profits obtained from it and repent from that and not return to it. And God knows best.
