Question
A man in a gathering heard from another about the poverty of some people, so he gave an amount to one of those present to deliver it to the poor, without intending to pay it from his Zakat. Then he remembered that he had Zakat to pay, so he thought to himself: 'I consider what I gave as the obligatory Zakat.' In the same gathering, before it reached the poor, is it counted as part of the obligatory Zakat?
Answer
I say, and with God's guidance: What the poor person has not spent is counted as zakat, and God knows best.
