Question
Is it permissible for a singer who sings about faith and recites the Quran to steal melodies from songs?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: If these melodies are permissible in themselves, and he uses them not for trade but for calling to God Almighty, then it is permissible; because it is part of spreading goodness, and goodness should not be monopolized or withheld. If he uses them for trade, then he must fulfill their rights. However, if the melodies are forbidden in themselves, it is not permissible to take them at all; due to their prohibition, and God knows best.
