The Wisdom of Zakat and the Difference Between It and Income Tax
They say that zakat is not suitable for the spirit of the age; because it takes revenge on the rich, and favors the poor over the rich. Moreover, income tax is sufficient instead of zakat. What is the validity of this statement? And what is the difference between zakat and income tax?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: The money belongs to God; He gives it to whom He wills and imposes what He wills in it. So He gave the rich and commanded him to give a part of it to the poor, and this is an act of worship, unlike tax, which is not an act of worship and does not go to the poor. And God knows best.
