The Wife's Money

Question
A wife has been working with her husband for many years and they agreed that he would give her a salary for helping him in his work. During these years, she would always ask him for her money so she could spend it, and he would never say anything to her. She felt shy to ask him, but after all these years, he told her: 'You have no money with me at all, and I benefit from your help, and your reward is with God.' She feels oppressed because he is very rich.
Answer
I say, and with God's success: Work is a contract between two parties. If there is an agreement between them on a specific work and a specific fee, then she is entitled to what was agreed upon in terms of money if she performed the work. If there is no verbal or customary agreement regarding the work or the money, then she is not entitled to a fee; because she would be considered a volunteer for what she has done. If her work has a financial return, he should honor her and reciprocate her kindness with kindness. If the work has no financial return, then her reward and his reward are with God Almighty, and God knows best.
