The Widow's Waiting Period
If a woman’s husband passes away and she is alone in the house, is it permissible for her to visit her relatives for companionship and then return to sleep in her house during the waiting period, or must she stay at home?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: It is not permissible to leave the house except for necessity. If one feels lonely in the house or fears temptation, it is permissible for her to go to another house where she can stay for a long time. And God knows best.
