The Value of Charity Varies According to the Donor's Ability
We have a bag of rice (3) kg for (13) riyals, which is designated for Zakat al-Fitr. Should we say for low-income individuals the Zakat al-Fitr is (15) riyals and for others (20-25) riyals, each according to their ability, benefiting the poor?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: We estimate the Zakat al-Fitr at half a sa', which is 1.820 grams, and this applies to everyone without distinction. Whoever wishes to give more is doing good, and God knows best.
