The Umbrella That Forgot Its Habit

Question
What is the ruling on the umbrella that forgot its habit due to madness or fainting?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: The term "the lost one, the confused one": refers to a woman who forgets her habit regarding the number or place of her menstruation or postpartum bleeding. Every woman must keep track of her habit in menstruation and postpartum bleeding, both in terms of number and place. If she becomes confused, faints, or neglects her religious duties due to sin, and thus forgets her habit, and the bleeding continues, she must seek to ascertain it. If her belief settles on the place and number of her menstruation, she should act accordingly; otherwise, she must take the more cautious approach in rulings. The duration of her purity and menstruation is only relevant in the case of the waiting period after divorce. Her menstruation is estimated at ten days, and her purity at six months, except for an hour. The complete rulings on this matter can be found in the book "Dhakhr al-Mutahilin" on page 105 and beyond, and see also "Rad al-Muhtar" 1: 190, and others.
