The Ties of Kinship During Holidays

Question
What is the ruling on maintaining kinship ties during the holiday, and whom should be visited among relatives?
Answer

I say, and with God's success: It is obligatory to maintain kinship ties during the holidays; that the son visits his mother and father, and the brother visits his sister and brother; due to their close relationship and mutual attachment and their anticipation of him. As for visiting aunts, maternal and paternal, and the daughter of the brother and the daughter of the sister, it is recommended; for it brings joy to their hearts and brings happiness to them. This connection during the holidays is one of the greatest acts of devotion to God Almighty. Narrated by Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: 'The ties of kinship are attached to the Throne, saying: Whoever maintains my ties, Allah will maintain his, and whoever severs me, Allah will sever him.' Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim. And Allah knows best.
