The Specific Vow

Question
What is the specific vow, and when is the intention for fasting it?
Answer
The specific vow: that is, a vow with a specific time: like the vow to fast on Thursday, for example. As for the non-specific vow, it is: like the vow to fast on a day without specifying which day, so the specific vow is like Ramadan in terms of the determination of time in both cases, as mentioned in رد المحتار 2: 82, 85. He can intend to fast the specific vow from the night until just before the major noon, unless something that contradicts fasting occurs after dawn. However, if something that contradicts fasting occurs before that, such as eating, drinking, or sexual intercourse, whether intentionally or forgetfully, then the intention is not permissible after that, as stated in الفتاوى الهندية 1: 196.
