Question
What is the ruling on someone who buys goods in installments from a merchant, and upon completing the payment, the merchant gives the buyer a gift as a gesture for having dealt with him, taken goods from him, and paid off his debt in full, such as giving him a gold piece or money? Is this correct?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: this increase is considered a gift and a present, and it is permissible according to Sharia as long as it is unconditional, and God knows best.
