The Ruling on Zakat for Non-Invested Money

Question
I do not work, and my husband has a low salary. I have to spend from my own money to cover our monthly expenses or some obligations. If I pay Zakat on my money every year, after several years I will not have any money left. Is this reasonable? What benefit do I get from paying Zakat, and when I need money for the children or to buy a house, I will not have any money?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: Zakat is the right of God Almighty, and it must be paid. God will bless your wealth if you give it and make your affairs easy for you. It is not permissible to give Zakat to children, and God knows best.
