Question
What is the ruling on a man who takes photographs at weddings among women and men?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: Photography in itself is not prohibited as long as it does not involve something forbidden. Among men, there is usually no mixing or immorality, so photography is permissible. However, among women, there will be mixing and a great temptation for them, as well as exposure of private parts and photographing of what is forbidden. Therefore, it is not permissible according to Islamic law for men to practice the profession of photography with women; it should be practiced by women. And God knows best.
