The Ruling on Wiping Over Socks
What is the validity of the claim that Abu Hanifa, may Allah be pleased with him, permitted wiping over regular socks in the later part of his life, after he returned to the opinion of the two companions and wiped over his socks during his illness?

I say, and with God's success: Yes, it is permissible to wipe over thick socks, which is the opinion of the two companions. The thick socks are the strong socks that cover the ankles, which one can walk on for a distance of approximately 5 kilometers or more, and which do not allow water to pass through, nor can the color of the skin be seen through them.
