Question
Your response was that wearing silk is forbidden for men. Is what one of the scholars attributed to the Hanafis, regarding the permissibility of wearing silk for men, a mistake by the scholar, may Allah forgive him, or is it one of the opinions among the Hanafis?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: It is not permissible for men to wear pure silk according to the Hanafi school if it is entirely made of silk. However, if the longitudinal thread is silk while the transverse thread is not, it is permissible. Likewise, if the silk is in an amount of four fingers or less, it is permissible to wear it; because it is merely a decoration on the garment, and it does not count. And God knows best.
