The Ruling on the Widow Leaving and Staying Outside the Marital Home
Is it permissible for a widow to leave the house during the waiting period to attend to her needs and stay with her children, knowing that she is seventy years old?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: If there is someone who can fulfill her needs, it is not permissible for her to go out, nor is it permissible for her to spend the night outside her home unless staying in her home causes fitna (temptation or discord). If there is fitna in her staying at home, it is permissible for her to stay with her children, and God knows best.
