A woman whose husband said to her: 'You are to me like the back of my mother,' and the reason is that he demanded his legal right from her, but she refused due to a health condition that the husband suffers from, as she asked him to go to a doctor to treat himself. He became angry with her and swore an oath, and he has not touched her for two years now. What is the ruling on their relationship now? And does she bear any sin for what she did?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: She would be sinful if she refrained without any harm coming to her, and this is a form of zihar. Therefore, she must perform the expiation for zihar, which is fasting for two consecutive months until she becomes lawful to her husband again. And God knows best.
