The Ruling on the Follower's Prayer if He Performs an Extra Rak'ah Beyond the Imam
If the follower is praying by gestures and does not see the actions of the Imam, and he stands up and performs a fifth rak'ah, what is the ruling on his prayer?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: If he sits in the fourth rak'ah, his prayer is valid, and if he stands for the fifth before sitting and prostrates for the fifth, the obligation is invalidated and he must repeat it, and God knows best.
