The Ruling on Returning to the Position of Forgetfulness in Prayer
A woman is forced to pray sitting down, and sometimes she forgets during the four-unit prayer after the second prostration in the second unit. Instead of placing her hands on her knees to read the Tashahhud, she places her hands on her chest as if she is in the third unit. Before she begins to recite Al-Fatiha, she remembers that she has forgotten. Is it permissible for her to return to the position of Tashahhud and complete her prayer?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: placing the hands is a Sunnah, so a mistake in it does not harm, and there is nothing upon it, and God knows best.
