The Ruling on Renting a Womb and Raising an Abandoned Child
My health does not allow me to become pregnant, is it permissible for me to raise an abandoned child, or to sponsor an orphan? And is it permissible for me to rent the womb of another woman to conceive a child?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: It is permissible to raise an abandoned child, and you will be greatly rewarded for this. Choose a child under the age of two in order to breastfeed him so that you become a nursing mother to him. You can take medication to induce milk for him, or you can have a sister of yours breastfeed him; thus, you will be a non-marriageable relative to him when he grows up, and this applies if he is a male. As for renting the womb of another woman, it is not permissible. And God knows best.
